Nike Commercial 2014

Football and commercials are best friends, and a great tool to use in class. Nearly every kid loves football. Football players are amongst their idols as well, so this commercial might be a great tool to boost their urge to speak. After all, the world football championship is only two months ahead.

ThingLink

ThingLink is a free tool for image interaction that allows content sharing via online images. I came across this wonder via The Blog Teacher, the author and editor of which is my schoolmate Filipe Mendes. I immediately tested this tool and did a compilation of some resources about Hallowe'en. The picture below is a print screen of that work. Whenever you press an icon it will redirect you to a specific site/video. You can add as many icons as you like.  I'm sure I'll use it in my next electronic presentations, as new stuff always dazzles students and helps them focus on our lessons' contents. In addition to this, ThingLink is a teacher-friendly app as it is very easy to use. Give it a try. You'll simply love it. To me, along with Prezi, it is one of the best ways to present contents in class.

Scoop.it

Found pic @blog.scoop.it
I've been scooping the London 2012 Olympic Games for some time now. Even though the Games are already over, I have scooped some more topics on this issue. London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games - Thank you from Samsumg was my last scoop! You can take a look at all the topics I've been curating, by following this LINK: from the Torch Relay, to the Olympic Games Opening and Closing Ceremony, news on the athletes and competitions, as well as on the Paralympics... T@PT has also dedicated twelve posts to the Games, from July to August: The Founder of the Modern Olympics, London 2012 Olympic Games, Michael Phelps's last Olympic Games, The Opening Ceremony, David Boyle tweeted:'Proud to be British', I'm back... to the Olympic Games, Team GB by Sir Chris Roy, London 21012 burst in pride, The Olympic Games Closing Ceremony, The Paralympic Games, Amazing athletes and Look up at the stars. By gathering (or curating) all this information in one place, I have access to all the news that I have considered relevant during the Games. I have been using some of that information in my first classes as a way to diagnose my students' skills: from reading small texts to listening to videos, talking about the pictures on the articles and writing their opinions on the Games. This web 2.0 tool has been quite useful!... Scoop.it: I do recommend it!...

iCat and Prezi

It's been a while since I last used prezi in class!... Prezi is different, and it is now easier to create fantastic zooming presentations. The prezi that follows was created by me to use in a 10th form class about 'The Technological World'. The students had read a text in the previous lesson - 'Robots Craze' (source: The Most Amazing Inventions, Time) and some of them didn't realize that such a robot really exists... This presentation aimed to show them not only the existence of iCat but also to practise vocabulary on facial expressions and emotions, as well as, to improve their listening-comprehension skills.

I do recommend the use of this tool in class. Students love it as it grabs their attention and makes them want to speak and comment about what is shown in the pictures/video!... Feel free to copy this prezi and use it in your classes!...
