Valentine's Day @PineTree

'Love was in the air' @PineTree School, last tuesday...
To be more accurate, love was online!... Students wrote their messages on the web wiki, as asked! And so did the teachers, at the teachers' room, on a spot provided for the writing of messages, love quotes or funny poems. Love was in the air and so were many smiles... For each smile I saw in the members of the school community, I felt this was an activity worth doing!

My deepest thanks to all the students and fellow workers that have made this day a very special day!...  And to our 'EVT' teachers Jaques, Sandy and Elisabete, I can only say:
'Roses are red, violets are blue
Your Art is Impressive
and so are You!'...

  1. Activities @ a school are meant not only to entertain, but also to teach, to improve skills! This was a very interesting and productive activity as it combined writing techniques, ICT competences, all sprinkled by amazing feelings, such as, friendship and love! The wall for teachers to express their feelings was also a gr8 idea, people were tempted to risk and write in English! Undoubtedly a success! Congratulations, everybody!

  5. Language… a powerful word!
According to the Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English, language is the system of human expression by means of words; in fact it is a particular system of words, as used by a people or nation; it is used to express meanings or feelings.
English is not our native language, but we do love it and we share this love with our families, friends and students, hoping they feel the same when we’re together or when we’re asking them just to have fun…
So, day by day, year by year, we do our best in order to motivate our students and even ourselves as far as the English Language teaching / learning process is concerned.
Celebrating St. Valentine’s Day is a way of getting to know cultural facts and improving language skills.
We dared to think and act differently and due to this particular way of living and working, Saint Valentine's @ Pine Tree was a dream which came true… we have an expert on the matter! Thanks, Ana! You’re the best!
Students from all grades and levels of English were challenged to access the site and write a love message, taking into account not only the festivity we were celebrating, but also the feelings we try to honour: love and friendship.
We asked students to respect each other and we proudly noticed that all of them followed this request. How many teachers would like to say this… nowadays?!
Words don’t come easy but I can, I should, I must say or write Saint Valentine's @ Pine Tree was a huge success and that’s really great!
Looking forward to hearing (or reading) from you… next year… online… and bear this in mind: Be not afraid of greatness: some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them. William Shakespeare
Thanks, Céu! You do have a Super Power!
